Town Crier Staff Report

Sink a hole-in-one at the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament Aug. 25 at the Los Altos Golf & Country Club and you could drive away in a 1997 BMW Z3 Roadster.

The new car, donated by Allison BMW, is just one of many prizes available at the eighth annual event. Prizes will be awarded in the four-person scramble and one-best ball twosome format, as well as to winners of the longest drive, closest to the pin, and for the putting and chipping contests.

Entry fee for the tournament is $175 prior to Aug. 1, then $185. The fee includes green fees, cart, lunch, dinner and auction. The tournament package price also includes a personalized video lesson featuring Greg Norman, provided by Visual Edge Systems, Inc. Early registration is recommended since space is limited to 144 golfers.

Non-golfers are invited to the auction and dinner at Grant Park Community Center at 6:30 p.m., immediately following the tournament. Tickets for dinner only are $25. The dinner will be catered by Armadillo Willy's.

Proceeds from the event will benefit community programs and help support Chamber of Commerce activities.

Bank of Los Altos is the major event sponsor. Other sponsors include American Express Tax & Business Services, Armadillo Willy's, Cornish & Carey, Le Boulanger, Los Altos Garbage Company, Los Altos Optometric Group, Lozano Brushless Car Wash and McWhorter's.
