Two more interested in council candidacy

Two more potential candidates have taken out papers for Los Altos City Council as of last Friday evening, said Carol Scharz, Los Altos City Clerk.

This brings the total to five for those who may be running in the fall election.

Steve Smiley, 36, a systems test manager with Space Systems Loral, has lived in Los Altos for about seven years, said his campaign assistant Debbie Quimby.

Kenneth Wood, a court clerk in the justice system in San Mateo County, has also taken out papers, Scharz said.

Candidates have until Aug. 8 to officially file if incumbent Bob Gray files.

If he does not, and he has said he is not running for re-election, then candidates have until Aug. 13 to file, Scharz said.

Incumbent Patti Williams, King Lear and John Moss have also taken out papers. Two seats are up for election on the five-member council.
