Youth theatre holds auditions

The Los Altos Youth Theatre invites folks between the ages of 8 to 20 to audition between 4-6 p.m. today or Thursday for the group's fall production of the tongue-in-cheek comedy, "The Clumsy Custard Horror Show."

Auditions will be held in the multi-purpose room at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave. Call backs will be Friday from 4-8 p.m., also at Hillview.

Tennis benefit for Foothill College

A women's doubles tennis tournament and luncheon will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. to benefit the renovation of the Foothill College Theater and courtyard. The work is already in progress. The fresh look is aimed at inspiring theater-goers and students.

During the luncheon at Fenwick Estate, Swetka's Tennis Shop will present a fashion show. Donations for the tournament are $50; $30 for only the gourmet luncheon provided by Fontana's Italian Restaurant.

Russian adoption information night

The Mountain View-based Domoi Foundation invites families to a Russian adoption information night, "From Russia with Love," from 7-9:30 p.m. Sept. 18, at the Jewish Community Center, Terman Drive and Arastradero Road, Palo Alto.

The Domoi Foundation is a non-profit family foundation dedicated to supporting families who wish to adopt children from Russian and Eastern Europe. For more information, call 969-1980.

Packard art studio sale

Members of the Packard Art Studio will be holding their annual art sale 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 27 at the American Legion Building, 347 First St., in Los Altos.

The 28 featured artists, members of the Packard studio, will be exhibiting work ranging from oil and watercolor paintings, sculpture and weaving, to faux art in both traditional and contemporary methods.

"What makes studio work different from classes" said Packard, "(is that) each artist is encouraged to experiment and explore personal style."

Hike paths in Los Altos Hills

Members of the Los Altos Hills Town Pathways committee invite the public from 1-3 p.m. on Oct. 5 for a hike along the town paths.

The walk will begin from Los Altos Hills Town Hall (26379 Fremont Road) and will continue on local trails in the area.

A few hills are included, but the walk is not considered difficult and people of all ages and ability are encouraged to join. Refreshments will be provided following the walk.
