Following public comment at their Oct. 15 meeting, the Los Altos Hills Town Council voted to draft a resolution opposing the use of Moffett Field for general aviation and air cargo.

The vote was 4-0, with Councilman Sid Hubbard abstaining.

Of the 14 people who spoke on the issue, half came from outside Los Altos Hills.

Three speakers from the town favored retaining some aviation uses at Moffett Field, and four were opposed.

However, a show of hands from Los Altos Hills residents in the audience, many there for other issues, indicated overwhelming support for a resolution opposing opening Moffett to more aviation.

"I don't want to take a strong position based on inadequate study," said Hubbard, emphasizing the amount of research already done by the Community Advisory Committee on Moffett Federal Airfield (CAC) commissioned by Mountain View and Sunnyvale city councils.

At the request of Councilwoman Elayne Dauber, the resolution will include language encouraging the relocation of the U.S. Geological Survey from Menlo Park to Moffett Field.
