Claudia Westrum, co-chairwoman of the PTA event, said: "Along with favorite activities including phantom football, buried treasure, mummy fingers and the wheel of fortune, we are introducing new events such as the witches cauldron and face painting, and 'Tic-Tac-Boo.' " This year's cake walk will feature more than 80 ghoulishly decorated cakes, with prizes given to the best decorated cakes in each grade level. "The ever-popular haunted house, built and hosted by the Santa Rita sixth-grade class, promises to be spookier then ever," said Paula Rini, who is in charge of the sixth grade haunted house this year. "You never know what you will find as you make way through the infamous 'Santa Rita Swamp.' " The carnival will offer an assortment of food, including Chef Chu's Chinese chicken salad, pizza from Round Table, cookies, soft drinks, and, of course, candy. The carnival and haunted house are for pre-school through elementary school-aged children who should be accompanied by an adult. Admission to the carnival is free and game tickets are 25 cents each. Children and adults are encouraged to come in costume. |
