LAHS advisory council meeting

The Community Advisory Council will hold a meeting at 7:30 tonight at Los Altos High School, room 206. The agenda includes an overview of the Foreign Language Department, an update of the new counseling format and an explanation of special centers. For more information, call 948-5160.

Cupertino candidates forum Thursday

The CFCPTA, AAUW and the League of Women Voters are sponsoring a candidate's forum for the Cupertino Union School District at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Eisenhower Elementary School, 277 Rodonovan Drive, Santa Clara.

NetDay at Foothill

California's first community college NetDay is this Saturday at Foothill College. 3Com, SASCO Data Systems, Apple and Anixter will team up with the nonprofit Smart Valley SmartSchools initiative and Foothill to get students wired for the 21st century.

Volunteers will spend the day preparing five classrooms for connection to a high-speed network that will give Foothill students state-of-the-art instructional technology. Activities are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Foothill College Library, Room 25.

Foothill-De Anza candidates forum

The Leagues of Women Voters of Los Altos-Mountain View, Cupertino, Sunnyvale and Palo Alto will host a candidates forum to address higher education issues from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Mountain View City Council Chambers, 500 Castro St.

Candidates Jay Jackman, Paul Fong and Edward (Sandy) Hay will are vying for two seats on the Foothill-De Anza Community College District Board.

Author addresses parents with teens

Michael Riera, noted adolescent expert and author of "Uncommon Sense for Parents with Teenagers," will speak at 7 p.m. Oct. 29, at Smithwick Theatre, Foothill College. Tickets are $15 or 2/$25. Proceeds will benefit the Parental Stress Hotline, TeenLine and Parenting Education at Family Service Mid-Peninsula. For more information, call 326-6576.

Homestead play opens this weekend

Homestead High School's Theatre Arts program presents "Seven Keys to Baldpate," a play that opens this weekend.

Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., plus Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.

The student-performed play was written by George M. Cohan and will be directed by Shareen Merriam. It is described as a comedic mystery suitable for the whole family.

Homestead High is located at 21370 Homestead Road in Cupertino. General admission tickets are $5.
