Post offices in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View and Sunnyvale are on-line with the U.S. Postal Service's 800 customer service number, 1-800-ASK-USPS (or 1-800-275-8777).

The western region began coming on-line last Thursday, said Jewel Hamilton, station manager at the Miramonte postal station in Loyola Corners.

If you call the local customer service number, you'll get a recording with the new number, Hamilton said.

The Miramonte station will be closing sometime in January and moving to temporary quarters at site 255, Moffett Field, Hamilton said.

carrier annex will operate at Moffett Federal Air Field while the former Safeway building it has occupied at 1525 Miramonte Ave. is demolished. A new full service postal facility and carrier annex will be built on the site.
