Students at Los Altos High School have selected senior Jorge Paez-Salinas as Outstanding Student of the Month for his positive attitude, outgoing personality and creativity.

Paez-Salinas is known by his classmates as a "great person" with a "big heart."

As a student who entered Los Altos with few English skills, Paez-Salinas was determined not to allow his English deficiency to hold him back. He enrolled in English as a Second Language classes and worked hard to become a great success story. He was on both the cross-country team and on the track and field team for two years, during which time he received the coaches award and last year's all league award. Paez-Salinas holds the distinction of being the second fastest runner in the high school's history.

He also participated in the dance group Mexico Lindo.
