Artwork sought for library exhibits

The Los Altos Library Arts Committee invites artists to submit original artworks Jan. 2 in the program room of the library, 13 S. San Antonio Road, Los Altos.

The committee is seeking artwork for future exhibits, "Expressions in Watercolor," Jan. 3 through March 6; "People, People, People," March 7 through May 1; and "Absolute Abstract," May 2 through July 10.

All works must be framed for hanging and be no less than 8-by-10 inches in size. Jurying of all works will take place Jan. 3. Artwork can be picked up by participating artists between 3-6 p.m. Jan. 3.

Chefs Who Care at Koo Koo Roo

The next Chefs Who Care dinner benefiting the Community Services Agency will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m., Jan. 12-14, at Koo Koo Roo California Kitchen restaurant, 295 Main St., Los Altos.

Half the proceeds from the $10 dinner will be donated to the Community Services Agency's Community Kitchen, which serves free meals to homeless and low-income individuals and families.

Dinning choices include skinless flamebroiled chicken, rotisserie chicken and turkey dinner.

Reservations are required.

Fire vacancies in Los Altos Hills

The Los Altos Hills County Fire District will have two vacancies on the fire district board of commissioners, beginning January 1998. The commission, open to Los Altos Hills residents, meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the fire station on the Foothill College Campus.

Letters of interest may be sent to: Board of Commissioners, Los Altos Hills County Fire District, P.O. Box 1766, Los Altos 94023-1766. Deadline for applying is Jan. 9, 1998, and will be presented to the commission Jan. 20.

Santa visits Rancho center

Santa Claus is scheduled to make his last appearance today at Rancho Shopping Center in Los Altos.

Santa will be on hand to take children's Christmas wishes from noon to 4 p.m.

Sponsoring merchants at Rancho invite the public to bring the kids and your camera.

Donations sought for holiday lights

The Los Altos Village Association is seeking donations for the street decorations and lights that adorn many of the trees in downtown Los Altos during the month of December.

This year's lights cost $12,000 to put up, of which $9,000 go for repairs. The remaining $3,000 is needed for new lights.

History House needs vintage items

History House of Los Altos is looking for items to be donated to the Museum-House collection, particularly items from the 1848-1900 period. For more information, call 948-9427.
