Pruning workshop this Saturday

The Los Altos Parks and Recreation department is sponsoring its annual rose pruning workshop from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday in the rose garden at the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve, 482 University Ave., Los Altos.

The Rose Society consultling rosarians will be Virginia Masero, Barbara Gordon and Lynett and John Petruala, who will prune the preserve rose garden in the demonstration.

They will also advise on all aspects of the love and care of rose bushes, fertilizers, watering and blight control. The rose pruning will take place regardless of the weather, unless a full El Niño is in progress. For more information, call 948-3552.

Blood drive at Springer School

The Los Altos-Mountain View PTA council will be holding a blood drive from 2-7 p.m. Jan. 15 at Springer School in the multi-use room, 1120 Rose Ave., in Mountain View. Stanford Blood Center staff will be taking the blood donations.

Drop-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred. Child care will be provided. To set up an appointment, call Adele Behn at 949-0626.

Chefs Who Care at Koo Koo Roo

The next Chefs Who Care dinner benefiting the Community Services Agency will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m., Jan. 12-14, at Koo Koo Roo California Kitchen, 295 Main St., Los Altos. Half the proceeds from the $10 dinner will be donated to the CSA's Community Kitchen, which serves free meals to homeless and low-income individuals and families.
