Johnson will explain and demonstrate how to prune roses. The program also will include a brief talk on butterfly and hummingbird gardens. Admission is $2. The public is invited. Blood drive at Springer School The Los Altos-Mountain View PTA council will be holding a blood drive from 2-7 p.m., Thursday, at Springer School in the multiuse room, 1120 Rose Ave., in Mountain View. The staff from the Stanford Blood Center will be taking the blood donations. Drop-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred. Child care will be provided. History House seeking new members The low cost of adding your name to the membership of Los Altos History House Museum Association could be an important contribution to the historical preservation of local culture and history. Membership benefits include making new friends who share an active interest in the city's history and preserving historic homes. Members receive reduced rates or free admission at many Los Altos annual community activities, and volunteer opportunities abound. Annual events include the February crab feed, a third grade essay contest and ice cream social, a California Country Antique Show, a summer barbecue, an American Antique Fair and Christmas holiday teas.
