Town Crier Staff Report

The Sister City Affiliation of Mountain View is seeking Mountain View and Los Altos High School students interested in participating in its homestay exchange program. The program includes staying in Mountain View's Japanese sister city, Iwata, this July and hosting students from Japan the following summer.

This two-year program provides fund-raisers to help defray travel and hosting costs.

During the 1996 summer exchange, American students visited Mt. Fuji and Komegane; practiced Kendo; visited high schools, temples, shrines and castles; and participated in everyday Japanese family life.

Last summer 10 high school students representing Mountain View, Los Altos and Notre Dame high schools, took the Japanese students sightseeing throughout the Bay Area.

All students who live in the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District qualify to apply for the program. High schools students may attend other schools outside of the district, but must live within the school district boundaries.
