CHAC provides counseling services and programs for children and families in the Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and Mountain View communities, addressing problems that are causing stress within the family unit, such as drug and alcohol abuse, teen gang participation, domestic violence, and child abuse. CHAC counselors are available at CHAC's location in Mountain View, and on the campuses of 24 schools in the community. A partnership between the governments, schools, and residents of the three communities, CHAC has been helping children and families in crisis since 1973. "The Los Altos Kiwanis Club has been a generous contributor to CHAC for many years," said Steele, who is also CHAC's finance director. "They have given not only financial support, but their time and their skills as well. Last year, they provided the funds for our monthly landscaping maintenance, and the paint and labor for part of our refurbishing project, as well as assisting us with indoor repairs." |
