Los Altos Senior Center

Feb. 11: Trip to the Hershey chocolate factory in Oakdale scheduled to begin 9 a.m. Cost is $32 per person. Trip also includes lunch and a stop at Knightsferry in the Gold Country.

The center offers free tax help for seniors through the American Association of Retired Persons. The tax-aid program, available through April 15, provides free income tax advice to low- or moderate-income taxpayers age 60 and older.

The volunteers are trained and sponsored by the association in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service. Call the Los Altos center for an appointment. For volunteers who would like to help, call Donald Rust, district coordinator, at (408) 246-1752.

Notes: The senior center has a loan closet for sick room items like canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Call 948-7483 to borrow these items. ... Activity Cards are for sale at the senior center for $12 for Los Altos residents. Others pay $17. The card is good until June 1998.

Mountain View Senior Center

Note: Mountain View Senior Center chess players are looking for some new players to add to the group.

All levels of players will be welcomed. Players meet at the game tables in the game room at 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The Los Altos Senior Center is located at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., in Los Altos. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 948-7483.
