Benjamin Sharpe

Benjamin Sharpe, a facilities supervisor with Bay Trans Co. Inc., died Jan. 22 at his Mountain View home. A native of Texas, he was 72.

A memorial service was held Jan. 29 at the Los Altos Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries.

Roger Fridman

Roger Fridman, a sales manager for System 99, died Jan. 10. A native of Vermont, he was 82.

Mr. Fridman is survived by four children, Tom and Chris Fridman, Judy Barkoff and Stef Michelson; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Jan. 15 at St. Williams Catholic Church.

Fang Fei-Chi Lu

Fang Fei-Chi Lu died Jan. 24 at El Camino Hospital in Mountian View. A native of China, she was 71.

She is survived by her husband, Wei-Hsiang Lu; five children, Perry Lu of Palo Alto, Kuo Chih of Mountain View, Anna Lu of Tai Pai, Taiwan, Victor Lu of Castro Valley and Frank Lu of Mountain View.

A memorial service was held Jan 31 at the Los Altos Chapter of Spangler Mortuaries.

Jonathan Tanabe Kasle

Jonathan Tanabe Kasle died Jan. 26 after a 2-year battle with cancer. He was 4 years old.

Family members described Jonathan as a "caring, loving boy with a twinkle in his eye and an impish sense of humor."

Jonathan will be deeply missed by his parents, David and Margie Kasle of Mountain View; his younger brother, Jeffrey; grandparents, Makoto and Reiko Tanabe of Japan, Edna Cailie Rossenas of Muir Beach and Irwin and Ruth Kasle of Palo Alto; and many aunts and uncles.

Amparo Santa Catalina de Roja

Amparo Santa Catalina de Roja died Jan. 23 in Mountain View. A native of the Philippines, she was 82.

Mrs. Santa Catalina de Roja worked as a supervisor for NACIDA, a Phillipines government agency. She was an active member of the prayer group at St. Joesph's Church in Mountain View.

She is survived by four children, Greg Roja, Denny Roja of Los Altos Hills, Carmen Aranas, and Chona Amores; one siblinh, Elvir Santa Catalina; and eight grandchildren.

Chester Louis Buthe

Chester Louis Buthe died Jan. 27 in Mountain View. A native of Missouri, he was 73.

Mr. Buthe was a sales and marketing director with Levi Strauss. He was a member of Valley Presbyterian Church in Portola Valley and the Los Altos Golf and Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Edna of Los Altos; two children, Curtis and Christopher; siblings, James, Dorotha, Geneva and Evelyn; and three grandchildren, Amanda, Rebecca and Malia.

Allen Bates Lindsley

Allen Bates Lindsley died Jan. 28 in Sonora after a long illness. A Los Altos resident for 30 years and a native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Lindsley was 77.

He was a financial analyst at Del Monte Corporation for 33 years and taught business at Foothill College for 10 years. Mr. Lindsley served as a docent at Railtown 1897 in Jamestown and was a member of the Moose Lodge, Mountain Katz Travel Group and Columbia Repertory Group.

A memorial service was held Feb. 7.

Richard Tempel Orth

Richard Tempel Orth died Jan. 27 at his Los Altos Hills home. A native of Chicago, he was 90.

Mr. Orth retired as vice president and director of the electron tube group at Varian. He and his wife Jeanette were among the original founders of Foothills Congregational Church in Los Altos. He also helped found a shelter for the homeless through the church.

Mr. Orth was the widower of Jeanette Morgan Orth. He is survived by three children, Betsy Silver, David Morgan Orth and Susan Elvert; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Feb. 6.
