The League of Women Voters for the Los Altos-Mountain View area will host an informational session March 7 to enlighten voters about Measure D, the $36 million school facilities bond on the April 14 local ballot.

If passed, the bond would provide funds to renovate and repair five aging Mountain View elementary and middle schools as well as reopen the now-closed Huff School to relieve student overcrowding.

It will also result in increased payments for property owners.

Two trustees of the Mountain View School District, Rose Filicetti and Ann Lewis will explain the details of Measure D - among them why the measure is needed, how construction and expenditures will be monitored, and what the bond will cost district residents.

The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Slater School's multiuse room, 325 Gladys Ave., Mountain View.
