Town Crier Staff Report

he Foothill College men's and women's basketball teams have both qualified for this week's Northern California playoffs.

The seedings were not announced before the Town Crier went to press, but both squads were expected to open on the road.

The men, who finished 9-19 overall, will play Friday. The women, who were 14-14, play Saturday.

The men finished the regular season with a 95-76 home win over Ohlone last Friday.

Jimmy White led the Owls with 27 points. Damien Strahorn, Bobby Enosa and Randy Green each scored 12 points.

The women ended the regular season with a 53-45 loss to visiting San Mateo last Friday.

Rena Carriere led the Owls with 13 points, but left the game with a sprained ankle in the second half. She will likely miss the playoffs.

Men's tennis team falls

The Foothill men's tennis team, the defending state champion, continued its tough non-conference schedule last week.

On Feb. 18, the Owls dropped a 5-2 decision to the University of Pacific in Stockton. This marked Foothill's first loss of the season.

The Owls disposed of the University of Santa Cruz in its Feb. 11 opener.
