Anna Kraus has earned a lot of honors during her soccer career, but the latest may be the greatest. The St. Francis High senior has been named to the Parade All-America team.

"This ranks right up there," said Kraus, a Mountain View resident. "I'm told this is one of the most prestigious honors in the nation."

That it is. Parade, a magazine inserted into the Sunday editions of daily newspapers across the country, has become famous for its annual prep awards.

Only 41 girls made this national team, which was featured in last Sunday's edition of Parade. Kraus is one of just six Californians to be recognized.

Kraus put up some impressive numbers this season, leading St. Franics in assists (12) and finishing second in goals scored (15).

Last week, she was named MVP of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division for her efforts.

Kraus helped St. Francis win the league title this season and her team holds the top seed in the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs.

Lancers coach Ricardo Hinojosa was obviously pleased by Kraus' selection to the Parade team.

"It was a nice honor for her and she really deserves it," Hinojosa said. "She's a fabulous player."

When she's not playing for St. Francis, Kraus plays on the U.S. Under-20 National Team and the Central Valley Mercury - a club team that's won back-to-back national titles.

Kraus plans to continue her career at Santa Clara University next fall. She signed a letter-of-intent with the school earlier this month.
