Cake and ice cream will be provided. March 19, 1 p.m.: Attorney Robert P. Bergman will talk on such topics as taking maximum advantage of the tax and inheritance laws to pass your estate on to your heirs, reducing or eliminating the federal estate tax, the avoidance of probate, and the advantage of the Tax Relief Act of 1997. March 24, 9 a.m.: Loretta Merry, a master cruise counselor at A Cruise Loft at Rancho Shopping Center in Los Altos, will present "A Cavalcade of Cruises for Seniors." This presentation will include slides and brochures on travel opportunities around the world and the United States. March 25: A group will leave the center at 12:30 p.m. to see "Shear Madness," a hilarious whodunit, at the Mason Theater in San Francisco. Cost of the trip is $38 per person. March 27: the movie of the month, "Evita," begins at 1 p.m. The movie stars Madonna and Antonio Banderas. Popcorn is available. The center offers free tax help for seniors through the American Association of Retired Persons. The tax-aid program, available through April 15, provides free income tax assistance to low- or moderate-income taxpayers age 60 and older. The volunteers are trained and sponsored by the association in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service. Call the Los Altos center for an appointment. Volunteers who would like to help may call Donald Rust, district coordinator, at (408) 246-1752. Notes: The senior center has a loan closet for sickroom items like canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Call 948-7483 to borrow these items. ... Activity Cards are for sale at the senior center for $12 for Los Altos residents. Others pay $17. The card is good until June 1998. ... Selected videos are available for viewing. ... A nurse is available for blood pressure screening from 9:15-11 a.m. the first and third Wednesdays of the month for drop-ins. Mountain View Senior Center The Los Altos Senior Center is located at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., in Los Altos. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
