Student of the month

Special to the Town Crier

Anna Lewis' appreciation for art is contagious. As the co-ordinator of the Art Club at Los Altos High School, the senior encouraged others to visit art museums and helped launch plans for the art show to be held in the Cafetorium this month.

Lewis has been named Los Altos High School student of the month.

She has spent her summers painting the walls at the former Covington School as part of a community service project and has studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Lewis participated in Amigo de las Americas last year, a program that sends volunteers to Latin American countries to participate in a sanitation project. She plans to participate again this summer.

Lewis describes herself as a self-taught artist. She is particularly interested in sculpture.

In addition, Lewis said she enjoys her advanced English and history classes.

Lewis has been a member of the varsity gymnastics team for four years.

After graduation, Lewis plans to study art at the University of California, Los Angeles; Los Angeles School of Arts and Architecture; or at the Creative Studies Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
