Dawn Pankonen is the first voice many hear at the Town Crier.

When you call the Town Crier, the pleasant voice you hear will be Dawn Pankonen, the paper's receptionist.

Pankonen, who originally hails from New York, has been with the newspaper for 1 1/2 years. She currently resides in Mountain View and is the mother of two daughters: Melissa, 9, and Ashley, 5.

Not only is her voice the first one you hear when you call the paper, she is also the person who greets visitors and directs them to the right person to talk with at the paper. Pankonen handles the reservation of the Town Crier media rooms as well as assisting Paul and Liz Nyberg, owners of the newspaper.

Pankonen is a valued employee who wears other hats, too, such as helping in the classified department as needed and handling the initial part of legal notices.

Pankonen is busy training with Noemi Marozick, our outside salesperson, who will be on maternity leave for 11 weeks beginning in April. During that time, another employee will be answering your calls.

Don't be concerned, though, because Pankonen will again be that pleasant person you will hear when Marozick returns to work.
