LAHS holds annual writers' conference

Los Altos High School will hold its 13th annual Writers' Conference March 30 through April 3 at the school. A variety of published writers will join individual classes of students throughout the week to share their writing and experiences as authors.

The news conference was developed in 1985 by English teachers at Los Altos. The Los Altos High School Parent Group and the School Site Council will fund the event. For more information, call 949-0404.

Children and seniors team up in the garden

The Mountain View-Los Altos Adult School needs volunteers for its Literacy in the Garden program, a class which brings elementary school students into the Mountain View Senior Center Garden for seven Tuesdays beginning April 17.

Principals' hotline answers questions

Parents who would like information and advice about their children's education are invited to call the National Principals' Hotline at 800-944-1601 from April 5 -7.

The three-day event links 6,000 elementary school principals and psychologists with parents from around the nation. Parents can ask anything from reading to homework to discipline

The hotline will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 5; 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 6; and 5 to 11 a.m. April 7.

Blood drive at Los Altos High

Los Altos High School will hold a blood drive from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 4 in the Stanford Blood Center Bloodmobile at 210 Almond Ave., Los Altos.

All donors must show a photo I.D. Free cholesterol screening is available on all donations. Cookies and ice cream will be served to each donor.
