CLASH FLASH: Los Altos High graduate Alberto Montoya made his Major League Soccer debut March 21. Montoya started at midfield for the San Jose Clash, logging 59 minutes in the team's season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Clash host the Dallas Burn at noon this Sunday at Stanford Stadium.

The Mountain View-Los Altos Lightning Bolt, a boys under-12 CYSA soccer team, invites committed players to tryout for its fall season. For April tryout times, call coach Tom Ward at 964-5125.

The Mountain View-Los Altos Tornadoes, a girls under-11 CYSA soccer team, is looking for serious players born between August 1, 1986 and July 31, 1987. For more information, call Layne at (408) 535-5759.

LACE 'EM UP: Hoop-It-Up will return to the South Bay June 6-7. Organizers expect more than 7,600 players and 38,000 spectators at the 3-on-3 basketball tournament in downtown San Jose.
