Easter egg hunt at Hidden Villa

Hidden Villa farm and wilderness preserve in Los Altos Hills will hold an egg hunt with prizes for children up to age 10 on Saturday.

Bring a picnic brunch or lunch and a blanket or lawn chairs to sit on - and don't forget a basket for those collected eggs. This family event will be held 11 a.m. - noon (brunch and hunt); 1-3 p.m. (lunch and hunt).

Cost is $5 per person; reservations are required. Come join in the fun and watch the children hunt for eggs. For more information, call 949-8653.

Spring bunny visits at Los Altos homes

The city of Los Altos Recreation Department has made special arrangements for the spring bunny to visit in homes and surprise the family's children. The bunny will be visiting from 1-5 p.m., Saturday, by reservation. The fee is $22. This program is open to Los Altos residents only. For a reservation, call 941-0959 ext. 305.

Rhododendrons in the Plaza

Rhododendrons and azaleas will bloom at the annual American Rhododendron Society's De Anza Show and Sale, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 18, in the Community Plaza, State and Main streets, in downtown Los Altos.

Sponsored by the Los Altos Village Association, this annual fund-raiser supports the society's many activities. For more information, call 949-5282.

Composting in Los Altos

Those interested in recycling yard waste into "garden gold" can attend a Saturday workshop sponsored by the cities of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in conjunction with the Santa Clara County Home Composting Education Program.

The workshop, set for 10 a.m. to noon at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos, features master composters. The workshop is free.

Peace in Bosnia subject of meeting

Rosemary van der Caan, president of the Resources Center for the United Nations, will speak on "Establishing the Roots of Peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina" 7:30 tonight in the Mountain View Library Community Room, 585 Franklin St.

The program, also featuring a film and personal stories from local Bosnian refugees, is sponsored by the Global Issues Committee of the Los Altos-Mountain View branch of the American Association of University Women.

Republican Women and the American flag

The Los Altos Republican Women, Fed. will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m., April 15, at Mac's American Grill, 325 Main St., Los Altos.

The program, titled, "Sojourners: History of Our American Flag," will feature a retired Air Force officer who will talk about the rules and regulations for burial in Arlington National Cemetery.

Dance dialogue with San Jose Cleveland Ballet

Tegan McLane, education and outreach coordinator of the San Jose Cleveland Ballet, will offer a lecture and slide show highlighting upcoming performances 7:30 tonight at the Los Altos Main Library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.

McLane will talk on the ballet's latest production of "Coppelia," with tips on what to watch for and how pantomime is used to tell the story.

This free lecture will be held in the Community Room of the library and is sponsored by the City of Los Altos, Friends of the Los Altos Library, and the Los Altos Arts Committee.

At the end of the lecture, there will be a drawing for a free pair of tickets to "Coppelia," playing at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts in six performances April 23-26.

Nominations for annual service award

Nominations are being accepted for the 35th annual Community Service Award, co-sponsored this year by the Los Altos District of the Peninsula West Valley Association of Realtors and the Los Altos Town Crier.

To be eligible, candidates shall have contributed in a meaningful way to the quality, spirit and character of Los Altos and/or Los Altos Hills.
