Town Crier Staff Report

The fourth annual Los Altos Community Prayer Breakfast is set for this Friday at Hyatt Rickeys in Palo Alto.

This year's featured guests and speakers are Nan and Chuck Geschke of Los Altos, who will discuss how their faith helped them cope with Chuck's kidnapping ordeal five years ago.

On May 26, 1992, Chuck, co-founder and president of Adobe Systems, was abducted at gun-point. The dramatic search effort was the biggest of its kind since the kidnapping of Patti Hearst. He was rescued after five days.

Details of that ordeal were covered in a four-part series the Town Crier ran last October and November.

The Geschkes said coping with the kidnapping and its aftermath involved continual personal prayer. The title of their talk is "Partners In Prayer."

Special music will be provided by Debbie Shaeffer, associate music/worship director at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church. Shaeffer sings and plays the piano at numerous Peninsula functions.
