'Millennium Eve' celebration backers soliciting interest

Members of the newly organized Los Altos Millennium Eve Committee sent letters last week to approximately 80 local organizations floating the idea of a community-wide party in Los Altos on Dec. 31, 1999.

The letter, sent March 20 to a variety of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills groups, seeks their participation in an April 15 meeting at the Los Altos Town Crier to discuss the feasibility of holding such an event.

Organizers said the meeting scheduled for 5 p.m., is meant as a brainstorm for possible activities at a new millennium celebration, as well as drawing support and funding for the once-in-a-lifetime event.
