Babayan, competing the open division, had a throw of 55 feet. The Mountain View High grad holds the record at U.C. Davis and aspires to make the U.S. National Team.SUPER BOWL OF GOLF: The El Camino Hospital Foundation announced last week that George Seifert and Bill Walsh, who each coached the San Francisco 49ers to Super Bowl victories, will co-host this year's El Camino Heritage Golf Tournament. The event is set for September 14 at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park. The tournament will benefit the El Camino Hospital Older Adult Resource Center. TRUE BLUE: Los Altos resident Matt Mendoza and his teammates on the Palo Alto Blue Devils, a boys under-15 premier soccer CYSA soccer team, have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Northern California State Cup in Morgan Hill. The team earned a spot in the April 25 quarterfinals by beating two teams and tying another in a playoff tournament held March 28-89. ON GUARD: The City of Mountain View Recreation Division is offering a lifeguard training class April 13-18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The course will be taught by the American Red Cross. The cost is $150 for Mountain View residents and $160 for non-residents. Registration is taking place at the Mountain View Community Center, 201 Rengstorff Ave. For more information, call 903-6331.
