The following items were on the agenda at the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Los Altos School District April 6.

Board accepts computer donations

Board members accepted an HP Brio Model Computer, two displays, one Vectra Computer and six printers from David Packard, Jr. and the Hewlett Packard Employee Product Gift Program. The donated equipment totaled about $10,923 and will be used in the library at Egan Intermediate School.

Summer maintenance projects approved

As part of the district's summer maintenance upgrades, the district will seismically upgrade Bullis-Purissima School and replace its gutters. The district will also remedy the leaky main cooridor at Blach Intermediate School by reroofing it. The upgrades are expected to cost about $150,000 and will be funded through the district's building and deferred maintenance funds.

Randy Kenyon, assistant superintendent of business services, said the upgrades would not be disturbed by any of the possible school-site reconfiguration plans being studied by the Master Facilities Plan Committee.

Members did not approve plans for kiln-room additions at Egan Intermediate or Oak schools, which would cost about $34,500. They suggested that the district look at less costly options, such as putting art kilns under tin-roof structures.

Members agreed that the district's six operationg kilns should be shared among the schools' art classes until the board approves a plan.
