The center is expected to open in October and will include a 50-meter, Olympic-size pool and 4,000 square feet of buildings. It will serve student athletes in swimming, diving and water polo competitions, as well as physical education classes and other activities.FALCONS FALL: The C-level girls basketball team at Blach Intermediate School lost 29-19 to host Graham April 2 in the Valley Junior High School Athletic League semifinals. Coach Steve Kane led the Falcons to a 9-3 record and a fourth-place finish in league this season. RIDE ON: Pinewood School sixth grader Kevin Lozares won two events last month at the Junior Christian Cowboy Association Rodeo in Laton. The Mountain View resident placed first in the junior boys calf tying and bull riding competitions. SCHOLARSHIP SEARCH: A free lecture on how high school athletes can earn sports scholarships will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. tomorrow in Room L-14 at Gunn High in Palo Alto. The featured speaker will be Penny Hastings, co-author of "How to Win a Sports Scholarship." The program is sponsored by the Gunn and Palo Alto High Sports Boosters. The public is invited to attend and donations will be accepted at the door. MEDIA AT MENLO: Menlo College is holding a sports media career night at 7:30 p.m. on April 23 in the Student Union. Speakers will include KTVU football commentator and former San Francisco 49er Jamie Williams, KNBR sports talk host Larry Krueger and San Jose Clash executive Leilani Serrecchia.
