Solar living lecture at Hidden Villa

In honor of Earth Day, Hidden Villa farm and wilderness preserve will present "Second Generation Solar Living" from 7-9:30 p.m. on Friday. This lecture features David Arkin and Doug Livingston discussing sustainable building techniques and alternative energy.

Senior housing options explored

The Los Altos Senior Coordinating Council will hold a panel discussion, "Housing Options for Seniors," at noon Tuesday at Hillview Community Center, Room A.

Various options available to senior citizens will be discussed, with presentations made by residents of Parc Regent, Pilgrim Haven, and The Forum senior residential communities will make presentations.

Los Altos resident Trudy Grossman will speak on her experience in moving to The Forum. The program includes suggestions for those who prefer to stay in their homes.

The meeting is open to the public of all ages. A lasagna lunch is available for $6, or participants may bring their own lunch.

Author to speak on 'Agenda 21'

The West (Santa Clara) Valley Republican Assembly will feature Los Altos Hills resident Berit Kjos at 6:30 p.m., Monday, at Mac's American Grill, 328 Main St., Los Altos.

Kjos will speak on "The U.N. Plan for Your Community - Agenda 21." Kjos is the author of "Brave New Schools," "Twist of Faith," and "Your Child & the New Age," and a frequent guest on KFAX radio.

She is also an education researcher for the World Forum Conference with Gorbachev in San Francisco

The menu choices for the evening will be pasta for $18.50; chicken for $21; or salmon for $24. These prices include tax and service.

Garden Club plant, bake sale

The Garden Club of Los Altos will hold its spring plant and bake sale 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, on the Creekside Room patio of the United Methodist Church, 655 Magdalena Ave., Los Altos.

The public is invited to attend the sale and also stay for a 1:30 p.m. program, featuring George Argent, a world renowned collector with the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, Scotland. There will be a $5 charge for those attending the program.

Native Plant Society meets

The Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the California Native Plant Society will be having its 24th annual wildflower show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the cafeteria of the student center at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills.

The event, co-sponsored by the Ornamental Horticulture Department of Foothill College, will feature the sale of native plants in the patio area near the book store.

Guided walks to the campus native hill plant collection also will be offered at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

MV parade goes 'Under the Sea'

Mountain View's 20th annual downtown Parade, themed, "Under The Sea!," is scheduled for noon, Saturday.

The parade will feature entries from all over the Peninsula, including SJ Sharkie, the Old Mountain View High School Alumni, Santa Clara County Sheriffs Department, Mountain View Fire Department, and others.

Activities will follow in Pioneer Park, including children's carnival games, music, food and entertainment. Pioneer Park is located directly behind City Hall at 500 Castro St.
