City to consider design guidelines After considering a process for reviewing residential design guidelines, the Los Altos Planning Commissioners are forwarding their suggestions to the Los Altos City Council for consideration at the council's next meeting on Tuesday. Everyone agrees that the guidelines will profit from a review. At this point, what is being considered is what process the review will take. The planning commissioners want to be the point people for the review and to take at least part of one planning commission meeting per month to receive input. Also under consideration for gathering the public's concerns are through a task force or small groups. The city council meets at 7:30 p.m. in the city hall chambers, 1 N. San Antonio Road. Ranked among Worth's richest Los Altos and Los Altos Hills rank high in Worth magazine's annual survey of the 250 "Richest Cities in America," appearing in the publication's May issue. Los Altos Hills ranked No. 9 and Los Altos was No. 47. Holding the No. 1 and No. 2 spots respectively are Aspen, Co. and Jupiter, Fl. Among other neighboring cities in the top 100 are Atherton (4), Portola Valley (18), Monte Sereno (19), Woodside (25), Saratoga (37), Los Gatos (96) and Palo Alto (100). The survey article quoted Los Altos resident and Novel Prize winner Bill Sharpe. Ten years ago, Sharpe and his wife Kathy, following what's become the model, paid more than the asking price for a Los Altos home that they then remodeled.
