Prieur has been recording the town's rainfall with a rain gauge from his Los Altos home for the past 15 years. According to his records, the town surpassed 30 inches of rain only twice in the past 15 years - once in the 1985-'86 season and again in the 1994-'95 season. The other seasons came no where near this season's amount, he said. Here are the past 15 season rainfall totals recorded by Arthur Prieur: 1983-'84: 22.5" 1984-'85: 21.81" 1985-'86: 39.59" 1986-'87: 13.82" 1987-'88: 14.23" 1988-'89: 19.11" 1989-'90: 15.52" 1990-'91: 15.52" 1991-'92: 20.48" 1992-'93: 21.11" 1993-'94: 16.31" 1994-'95: 33.28" 1995-'96: 23.34" 1996-'97: 23.45" 1997-'98: 43.63"* * (As reported by the Town Crier April 1.) |
