The Weather Channel and E! will be added to the expanded basic lineup. TCI general manager David Walton said last week that programs are added as customers request them. "The most important consideration has been our extensive research on what our customers want," he said. Another factor TCI considers is the uniqueness of programming that cannot be found elsewhere on the channel line-up, Walton said. He said their goal is to provide as wide a variety of programming as possible. Layne Long, Los Altos assistant city manager and staff liaison for the Los Altos cable advisory committee, said he has not received negative public feedback regarding these channel changes. In order to make room for the new and expanded channels, Request 2 will no longer be available as of July 1. Additionally, a number of other channel positions will move. These changes are as follow: CMT moves from channel 32 to 64 (and remains a part-time channel); HBO moves from channel 23 to 15; International channel moves from channel 64 to 63; Odyssey moves from channel 33 to 32; Prevue channel moves from channel 15 to 3; Request 4 moves from channel 33 to 32; and Sneak Prevue moves from channel 3 to 64. |
