As one of the featured artists for the 23rd annual Los Altos Rotary "Fine Art in the Park", Goleta artist Mary Graves' colorful monotypes will be on display along with fine art and quality craftwork from more than 190 artists on Saturday and Sunday in Lincoln Park.

Graves, whose monotype "I'll Have it on the Veranda" was chosen as the official poster for the show, is inspired by the bold style and vivid palette of cartoons and comics from the 1950s. The strong line and patterns are the reflection of her interest in the works of Toulouse Lautrec and Henri Matisse.

"I try to reach a balance between spontaneity and control in my art," Graves said. "The printmaking-monotype process has become the favorite medium for me in that it imposes a technical expertise yet allows for freedom in line expression."
