The new Town Choir director, Johnnie Johnson, has assembled a repertoire of familiar songs which will be taped by the choir at Access Los Altos studios and aired on Channel 26 around July 4. "More singers are needed, " Johnson said. "As usual, more men." Rehearsals are scheduled for 4-6 p.m. Sunday and May 31 at the Los Altos Lutheran Church. For more information, call (408) 736-2701. Garden club will be all a-'Buzz' Buzz Bertolero will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Garden Club of Los Altos. This meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the United Methodist Church, Creekside Room, 655 Magdalena Ave., Los Altos. The topic will be "What's Bugging You About Your Lawn & Garden?" Also known as "The Dirt Gardener," Bertolero will also be available to answer any gardening questions. He is a popular Bay Area lecturer, columnist and radio/TV personality. Los Altos pathways hikes Enjoy the beauty of the countryside around us while meeting new people and exercising at the same time. Members of the Los Altos Hills Pathways Committee invite the public to join them for a hike along town paths on May 31. A choice of two walks will begin at 1 p.m., returning to the starting point before 2:30 p.m. Both walks will begin at Los Altos Hills Little League Fields (Purissima Road at Viscaino) and include nearby trails. One walk will be shorter, requiring less physical effort. The other walk will cover more territory and will include steeper trails. Electrical restructuring Residents are welcome to attend a lecture on "Electric Restructuring in California" at the Los Altos Senior Coordinating meeting held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos. The guest speaker will be Julie Sawyer, regional coordinator of "Plug In, CA!", a consumer education program established by the California Public Utility Commission. The program is a source of unbiased information about electric restructuring. Sawyer will be available to answer questions about new companies going into the business of providing electricity. Tibetan plants subject of meeting The De Anza chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will meet at 7:30 tonight at 1991 Deodora Drive, Los Altos. Wilderness adventure at Hidden Villa Youth aged 7-13 and their parents are invited to experience a first-time overnight camping adventure on May 30-31 at Hidden Villa, 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills. Learn food preparation, hiking strategies with children, backpacking gear and how to have fun and keep safe in the woods. The weekend will include games along the trails, and an evening of stories and songs under the stars. Bring a no-garbage lunch for Saturday. All other meals will be provided.
