Ekwa Msangi, Lorena Aguilar, Ayana Carter, Amina Chaudhry, Shauna Johnson, Mong Mai and Lorraine Ramirez were named students of the month at Los Altos High School for organizing the school's annual multi-cultural week last March.

The seven students each spent about 20 hours planning daily themes, assembling volunteers and implementing a week of workshops and activities that highlighted different cultural issues such as identity, inter cultural relationships, language diversity and socio-economic diversity.

Msangi served as chairperson and the other students worked in teams of two to develop the activities.

Classmates described the committee as an "energetic group."
