Pete Bjorklund, Andrew Hill, Alex Ware and Jenn Santos of Los Altos High; Sarah Chan of Mountain View; Ronald Nunn, Mike Atkinson, Tom Rees, Kacey Bradley, Chrissy and Cindy Hirsch and Danielle Endaya of St. Francis; plus Fred Shepard of Gunn have qualified for two individual events at the CCS semifinals. Participants needed to place in the top seven of an event to advance to the semifinals, slated for 1 p.m. Saturday at San Jose City College. Bjorklund won the shot put (55-7 1/2) and was fourth in the discus (154-9). Hill was second in the 3,200 run (9:35.43) and third in the 1,600 (4:26.54). Ware took fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.36) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (41.39). Santos grabbed second in the girls shot (39-3 1./2) and third in the discus (121-3). Chan was third in the triple jump (34-3 1/2) and seventh in the long jump (16-0). Nunn won the 100 dash (11.09) and was second in the 200 (22.56). Atkinson was fourth in the 200 (22.70) and fifth in the 100 (11.30). Rees earned fourth in the 400 (50.5) and seventh in the 200 (23.43). Bradley placed sixth in both the girls 100 (12.81) and 200 (26.50). Chrissy Hirsch won the long (17-2) and was second in the triple (34-5). Sister Cindy was fourth in the long (16-9) and fifth in the triple (33-9). Endaya took fifth in the shot (35-5 1/2) and sixth in the discus (112-6). Hills resident Shepard won the 300 hurdles (40.24) and was sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.85). Other top performers included Darren Marble and Alex Shye of Los Altos. Marble won the high jump with a CCS best 6-10 1/4, while Shye claimed the triple jump (45-7). The St. Francis boys 1,600 relay placed first with a time of 3:24.53. |
