Planners also hope to gather community input regarding development issues. The first meeting will be from 7-9 tonight in the multi-purpose room at Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos. The meeting is primarily for residents in the unincorporated areas of the Country Club, Magdalena and Summerhill avenues, Woodland Acres and Blue Oak Lane. The second meeting will be next Monday, also 7-9 p.m., also at the Hillview Community Center. That meeting is primarily for residents of San Antonio Hills and Amigos Court. New K-9 begins working in June Following a month of intensive training in May, the new Los Altos K-9, Gerry, and his handler, Los Altos police officer John Korges, will be hitting the streets this month. Gerry, who arrived in March from Germany, replaces the first Los Altos K-9, Disco, who retired in February when his handler, officer Craig Penley, left the police force to pursue other career plans. Korges beams when he talks about Gerry, and said he is excited about going to work with the dog in June. All LA fire stations now have paramedics The Santa Clara County Fire Department, which provides fire protection to Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, announced that all three local fire stations now have a paramedic on duty 24 hours a day, as of May 26. That means, following a 911 call, the citizen no longer has to wait for an ambulance, said a fire department spokeswoman. Now a paramedic who is with the fire department, can give life-saving medications and defibrillate a person if there is a case of cardiac arrest. - Joanne Griffith Domingue |
