The whole premise of Grad Nite, the annual post-graduation party-extravaganza at Los Altos High School, is an alcohol-free time for celebration - right?
Apparently, there are exceptions. Members of a band performing at this year's event last week were clearly drinking, and if there was any doubt, beer bottles lined a table where the band was situated before performing.
We have to wonder why alcohol is OK for the band members, not much older than the high school grads, we might add, and verboten for the students?
The no-alcohol rule has to be absolute for the message to hit home, we think. That means no beer for students, parents and any entertainment outfit that may be performing at Grad Nite festivities.
Granted, the alcohol was observed just before students started arriving at Grad Nite. But if we're talking about no alcohol at this event, it shouldn't be there, period.
