Got water? Be prepared in the event of an emergency

Water is one of the most important survival necessities after an earthquake A person can survive only a few days without it.

The Los Altos Emergency Preparedness Committee suggests residents should store a one-week supply of water in the event of a disaster. A good rule of thumb, members say, is one gallon of water per person per day. Water should be stored in sturdy opaque plastic containers.
