Don Allen, chairman and CEO of Cupertino National Bank, was recently elected president of the 20-member Foothill-De Anza Community Colleges Foundation Board of Directors. Allen has served on the foundation board since 1995.

District chancellor Leo Chavez said it is crucial for the college organization to team up with community leaders in order to meet the professional and education needs of Silicon Valley and to "develop the resources we need for quality programs and state-of-the-art equipment."

Additional officers elected to the board include James Jackson of Cupertino as vice president, Robert Grimm of Los Altos as treasurer and Jan Fenwick of Los Altos Hills as secretary.

Other directors re-appointed to three year terms are Jefferson Bender, Ginny Lear, Al Rutner and Jim Thurber, the board's immediate past-president.

The board provides stewardship of the foundation's $4.4 million in assets and develops a variety of fund-raising campaigns that benefit both the De Anza campus in Cupertino and the Foothill campus in Los Altos Hills.
