The trip was part of a farmer to farmer program funded by the U.S. Agency for International development. Community meeting on building moratorium For the residents of the unincorporated areas of Los Altos and Los altos Hills, the Santa Clara County planning staff will be hosting a meeting from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the Creekside Center, Los Altos United Methodist Church, 655 Magdalena Ave., Los Altos. The building moratorium, which applies primarily to new-home construction on lots smaller than the minimum parcel size established by county zoning, was established May 5 to enable the county to review and revise its development standards for small lots. This is the third of three community meetings in which citizen input has been heard regarding solutions. Master composter classes in Los Altos Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, in conjunction with the Santa Clara County Home composting Education Program are sponsoring a free workshop on recycling yard waste and food scraps into "garden gold." Bastille Day party set for Sunday The Palo Alto-based Albi Committee of Neighbors Abroad is planning a Bastille Day celebration, from 7-11 p.m. this Sunday, at the Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Road, in Palo Alto. This is the fifth year that this local Francophile group will be celebrating the storming of the Bastille, a state prison in Paris that was destroyed on July 14, 1789, during the French Revolution. Lee Cullinan, a Los Altos resident and co-chairwoman of the party, said the event last year drew 460 people including the French consul-General. Cullinan reports that visitors consider the event is "authentic," with pate, cheese, baguettes, sketch artists and dancing. For more information, call Cullinan at 948-3338. Job board for teens Teens seeking summer employment can post their interest or look for employment offerings on the Teen Job Board posted at the Los Altos Recreation Department through the Teen Program. Hidden Villa open July 18-19 Hidden Villa, which is closed to the public through Aug. 22 while its summer camp program is in session, will be open the weekends of July 18-19, July 26 and Aug. 8-9. The wilderness preserve, located on Moody Road in Los Altos Hills, will offer farm tours, hiking trails and other activities during its open weekends this summer.
