Mary Mason, president of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District Board of Trustees, has been elected president of the Board of Directors of California Community College Trustees. She was elected and sworn in May 17 at the close of the statewide California Community College Trustees Conference in San Diego.

Before her election in 1991 to the Foothill-De Anza board, she served for nine years, two as president, of the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District Board of Trustees.

In addition to serving for the past four years as a member of the California college board of directors, Mason chaired the Commission on Trustee and Staff Development for the Community College League of California. This past year, she served as first vice president of the league and as liaison to the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges.

Mason holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Oregon State University, is a long-time resident of Los Altos, and has been involved in numerous community activities.
