Los Altos Senior Center

July 26, 10:30 a.m.: July picnic in Shoup Park. Barbecued hamburgers, potato salad and cherry pie for dessert. Activity card holders $4, non-card holders, $6.

July 31, 1 p.m.: July birthday party with cake, ice cream, songs and bingo. Celebrate those with a birthday in July.

Aug. 6: Big Sur Coastal Tour: a one-day trip. Cost of the tour is $33, which includes driver's gratuity. Sign-up by July 22.

Notes: The senior center has a loan closet for sick room items like canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Call 948-7483 to borrow these items. Selected videos are available for viewing. A nurse is available for blood pressure screening from 9:15-11 a.m. the first and third Wednesdays of the month for drop-ins.

Mountain View Senior Center

The Los Altos Senior Center is located in the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., in Los Altos. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 948-7483.

The Mountain View Senior Center is located at 266 Escuela Ave., Mountain View. For more information, call 903-6330. Following is a list of special events for the month.

Today, noon: Annual Senior Center summer picnic. "Kidz on Tour" will perform. Tickets will be sold until 3:30 p.m. for $3.

Sunday, 2 p.m.: Travel Sunday. An armchair travel tour through Japan by Henry Munehiro. Admission is $1. Light refreshments will be served.

July 22, 10 a.m.: Personal safety and home security by Sgt. Rich Elias of Mountain View Police Department. A review of vehicle security, locks, lighting and how to avoid being a victim of fraud.

July 26, 2 p.m.: Musical Sunday with songwriter Davido. Admission is $1. Light refreshments will be served.
