The Stanford 9 test, which was administered by the State Board of Education as part of the state's Standardized Testing and Reporting Program, is the first standardized test to be administered statewide in three years. All students in California in grades 2-11, including students who speak limited English and some students enrolled in special education programs, took the standardized test. The test covered reading, spelling, writing and math. The scores are based on a national sample, with the 50th percentile being average. As reported in the Town Crier last week, students in the Los Altos School District scored in the top 10 to 17 percent of all students statewide who took the test. Approximately 3,656 students in the district took the test. Less than 10 percent of those tested were students who speak limited English. The average students score was above the 90th percentile nationally in math, the 88th percentile in written expression , the 87th percentile in reading and the 83rd percentile in spelling. The following test results at right represent the average student percentile in each grade level at every school. NEXT WEEK: Look for the test scores from the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District. |
