Hidden Villa's Humanitarian Awards, the preserve's biggest fund-raiser that honors local, regional and national contributors who reflect the Duveneck philosophy, is scheduled for Sept. 19. The event includes an art exhibit, buffet dinner and awards presentation, said executive director Judith Steiner.

This year's winners are: Comedian Michael Pritchard for the national award, who volunteers to help youths at risk; Pat and Jim Compton of Saratoga for the regional honor, who are on the boards of numerous environmental organizations; and Santa Clara County Judge LaDoris Cordell, of Palo Alto, for the local honor, for her work with teens.
