Pages of the Past

As reported in the Aug. 8, 1973, edition of the Town Crier, 32 Japanese students, whose ages ranged from 15 to 30, were studying English and meeting American students at Awalt High School during the summer of 1973. They were here through the auspices of a non-profit group called Interstudy, whose purpose was to allow students of different countries to learn English and become acquainted with the American way of life. For the Japanese students, it was a chance to meet Americans for the first time in their lives.
