Los Altos resident wins watercolor at ZYT Galerie during walking tour

Judith Hogan of Los Altos, won first prize in the recent Los Altos arts and antique tour contest at the ZYT Galerie. The tour, held July 23, was put on by the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce and Los Altos Village Association.

"You hear people say, 'I've never won anything,'" Hogan said, "but for me this is true - I really never have won anything before and I am thrilled to win this prize.

"Of all of the original paintings and prints by Manabu Saito that I viewed during the show," she said, "my very favorites were this print and the original painting, of that rich purple flower, Vanda."

The ZYT Galerie, at 923 N. San Antonio Road, in Los Altos, featured paintings and prints by botanical artist, Manabu Saito during the tour.

Since the artist could not be there in person to demonstrate his technique until his formal showing, Nov. 19, the art gallery decided to give away one of his limited edition prints.

Second prize, the Manabu Saito book, "Wildflowers of North America," went to Pat Reed, also of Los Altos.

The next art tour is scheduled for Aug. 27.
