Aaron Stephen Katz, a 1994 graduate of Los Altos High School and son of Steve and Ellen Katz, recently graduated from the University of California at Davis with a bachelor's degree in managerial economics and a minor in English. Katz plans to start work as a technical consultant for Peoplesoft in Pleasanton this September after spending the summer in Europe.

Weedgie Maloney has been named the new director at Montecito preschool in Los Altos. Maloney's assumes her new job Saturday.

Maloney has directed preschools in Santa Clara County for 10 years. She has run businesses in the education field for 15 years, and has worked as a professional evaluator of preschools. She is an experienced teacher with special expertise in motor development and dance.

Bryan Nunke of Los Altos was among the 17 students to graduate from the Squaw Valley Academy recently.

Karen Lombardi, daughter of Sheila and Paul Lombardi of Los Altos Hills. graduated from Claremont McKenna College recently. She earned a bachelor's degree in international relations - German.

Cas Schneller, son of Chad and Linda Schneller of Los Altos, was named to the dean's honor list at the University of Notre Dame spring semester for achieving a 3.8 grade point average during the spring semester. In addition, Schneller has been named to the dean's list each semester for his outstanding scholarship. The dean's list is comprised of a select group of students who have succeeded in maintaining a scholastic average of 3.4 and above each semester. Schneller, a 1996 graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory School, is majoring in finance and computer applications at the University's College of Business Administration.

Iditt Maya Blech and Jeanne Li-Hua Chao of Los Altos were named to the dean's list at Cal Poly for spring semester for earning grade point averages of 3.5 or higher.

Sharat Raghavan, son of Vijay and Latha Raghavan of Los Altos, received his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College June 14.

Mountain View resident Alexander Rubin and Los Altos residents Kimberely L. Edwards and Michael Hoa were named to the dean's list at Boston University for the spring semester.

Sarah Sheldon, a 1995 graduate of Los Altos High School, was placed on the dean's list at Tufts University for the fall and spring semesters. She was also awarded a Howard Hughes internship in molecular biology for the summer at Tufts.

Elizabeth F. Bostwick, daughter of Linda and David Botswick of Los Altos, graduated from MIT last June with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.

Michael Katz, son of Jerome and Carole Katz of Los Altos, recently graduated from the University of Pacific, School of Dentistry in San Francisco. He received a D.D.S. degree and has been accepted to the university's Advanced Clinical Experience Program. Katz is a graduate of Los Altos High School and the University of California at Davis.

Deanna Tryon, a 1989 graduate of Los Altos High School, received her master's degree in government with an emphasis in international relations and American government from Harvard University. Tryon earned her bachelor's degree in government from the University of San Francisco and then worked as an actress in film and television in Hollywood. She also worked at the British Consulate-General in Los Angeles. Her mother Barbara Tryon Cobarruviaz is a former Los Altos Hills mayor.

Jenny Marchick of Los Altos Hills was named to the dean's honor list at Connecticut College for the spring semester for earning a grade point average higher than 3.3.

Carolyn Hayes, daughter of Dotty and Terry Hayes of Los Altos, was selected to attend the Interlochen Center for the Arts. The 13-year-old will study oboe.

Julia L. Shreve, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William R. Shreve of Los Altos, received her bachelor's degree in geography from Middlebury College last May 24.

Andrea Kwon of Los Altos and Charles Schwab of Mountain View were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for maintaining grade point averages in the top 20 percent of the student body.

Bradford Stager Commons, son of Dr. and Mrs. George Commons of Los Altos Hills, earned a 4.0 grade point average for the spring semester at the University of California at Berkeley, placing him in the top 4 percent of students in the College of Letters and Science for the term. He was placed on the Letters and Science Dean's Honors List.

Dewayne Thomas Bradley of Los Altos Hills received his Doctor of Medicine from the Case Western Reserve University last spring.

Margret S. Thompson, daughter of Victoria and James Thompson of Los Altos, received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree May 17 from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated from Los Altos High School in 1985 and received a bachelors' degree from Smith College in 1989. She is working as a surgical intern at Angel Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston.

Hilary Wheeler, daughter of Pricilla Campell and Raymond Wheeler of Los Altos, received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree May 17 at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1989 and received a bachelor's degree in 1994 from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She is working at South County Animal Hospital.

Tiffany Medina of Los Altos Hills was recently presented a $3,000 Mozelle and Willard Gold Memorial Scholarship by the National Federation of the Blind. Medina will be a freshman at Williams College in Massachusetts. Medina was chosen as one of 26 outstanding blind students in the nation for demonstrating excellence in her studies.

Amie E Fernandez, daughter of Dr. William and Ellen Fernandez of Los Altos, was named to the dean's list at Middlebury College during the spring semester for maintaining a grade point average of 3.3 or higher.

Mary Ann Heaton Spitters of Los Altos, received the Distinguished Alumna Award from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Ind. at the Alumnae Reunion held June 4. The award was presented in recognition of her devoted support of the college and the alumnae association.

Kristie Nitta of Los Altos, was named to the dean's honor roll at Creighton University during the spring semester for outstanding academic achievement.

David W. Scopp, son of Dr. Alfred Scopp of Los Altos and Mrs. Elise Browning Miller of Palo Alto, received his bachelor's degree from middlebury College last May.

Christina Marianna Riter of Los Altos, Kristen Anne Kancler of Los Altos Hills and Mountain View residents Christopher Samuel Robertson and Melanie Christine Vowles were named to the dean's list at the University of California at Santa Barbara this past semester for achieving grade point averages 3.75 or higher.
