As drum major for the Blue Devils "B" Corps, Sidney competed against units from Japan, Australia, Korea, Hong Kong and Malaysia as well as Britain's Royal Lancers. He was also selected to conduct a band concert at the arena in Tokyo and to meet the governor of Japan's Kanawagi Prefecture and the mayor of Yohohaite, Japan. A 1998 Mountain View High School graduate, Sidney was drum major for the Spartan Marching Band. During that time he won awards at every competition he entered. He joined the renowned Blue Devils Drum Corps in 1997, first performing as the backfield drum major of the "A" Corps. He led the corps to Orlando for its an unprecedented ninth world championship. Sidney currently resides with his parents Hal and Jo Lesser in Mountain View and is planning to enter Foothill College in the fall to pursue his career as a music arranger and performing artist. His older brother David, also a graduate of Mountain View High, is currently a junior at Fresno State University. |
